About Dr W. A. Albrecht

Dr William A. Albrecht was a US-based soil scientist, who studied the link between soil fertility and human health. He was an emeritus Professor at the University of Missouri and served as president of the Soil Science Society of America. While Dr Albrecht died in 1974, his philosophy continues through the Albrecht system – an approach to soil science which helps build, balance and maintain excellent soil fertility to improve crop yield and crop quality.

Dr Albrecht’s granddaughter Anne Peret is patron of the scholarship.

In support of your application, we require:

  1. Up to 500 words about yourself and why you are applying for the Dr WA Albrecht scholarship.
  2. Select two of the conference’s main speakers and write up to 500 words on each of your two chosen speakers’ specialist subjects.
  3. Prepare a 10-minute presentation on a topic “The importance of soil fertility for Man kind's health”. NB: The scholarship recipient will deliver this presentation on Day 2 of the conference.
